UNDER THE BAR - THEO'S SOCIAL CLUB

Welcome to Theo’s Social Club, a cozy enclave in Gubbi Gubbi (Noosa Junction). Finding this wine bar means losing a few hours to its irresistible charm. The locals already know—this is the place where good wine, live music, and beautifully crafted grazing plates come together.

Founded by Chef Jake McWilliams and the ever-hospitable Gabby Smith, Theo’s it’s a gathering spot for those who appreciate the finer, yet simple, joys of life. Jake’s menu highlights the best of the region, offering seasonal dishes like Anchovy Crisps that pair perfectly with their ever-evolving cocktail list. The drinks, too, tell the story of Noosa, changing with the seasons to incorporate local flavours and surprising combinations.

We sat down with Gabby, who shared her love for lazy afternoons spent with their toddler at the bar, grazing on plates and enjoying the cozy vibe of the venue.

CP | What do you like most about working at The Social Club? 

GS | How much fun we all have! Between our wonderful customers, our dedicated staff and all the delicious things we get to consume. I find myself here even on my nights off with our two year old sitting at the bar eating oysters and Anchovy Crisps. 

CP | What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen or heard while working?

GS | It's hard to pinpoint just one. A highlight would be someone trying to set Theo's record for how many anchovy crisps in their mouth at one time. This stands at 7 so far. 

CP | What dish would you pair with a Heaps Normal at your venue?

GS | Our delicious Spring Bay Mussels! Some weeks with Harissa and chickpeas, some weeks with miso butter, lemon and herbs. Depending on what we can get from our local veg suppliers. Little bit salty, a little bit umami, perfect fit with a Normie.

CP | Describe your venue in three words.

GS | Intimate, welcoming, boozey.

CP | What’s your favourite drinking song?

GS | Th’ Dudes - Bliss
