We're stoked to launch the first official Heaps Normal Presents gig - part of our music industry support program which includes monthly gigs taking place across Australia, a rider support program for artists who want to cut back on the booze, and a music ambassador program.

Unlimited, free Heaps Normal beer is included with your ticket. For too long, music has been inextricably linked with getting wasted. We’re not anti-alcohol, but we want to put the focus back on the music, and on giving musicians and music-lovers other ways to experience the good times while minimising the downsides.

This event is being held on stolen land and we wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We pay respect to elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded, and simply put we’re not doing enough.

ARTIST BIOS

  • DIN

4 years ago, multi-hyphenate artist and Sydney favourite Rainbow Chan paired up with childhood pal Alex Ward (aka Moon Holiday) to create a club powerhouse.

Releasing their debut tape on the esteemed Moontown Records, they supported Yaeji at the bloody Sydney Opera House, played major festivals such as Soft Centre, then quietly disappeared, until now.

  • Crescendoll

Crescendoll is a Gamilaraay woman and Eora based DJ. Selected for FBi Radio's Dance Class 2020 program, she flirts with juke, jersey, footwork, hard drum, UK bass, garage and acid and is an appreciator of all things club. She is a regular on Eora’s dance floors and works as a solicitor at a community legal centre with a focus on police accountability, young people, and First Nations justice. Bow down.

  • LAND SYSTEMS

Land Systems is the industrial dance and ambient-infused techno project of Sydney-based producer Nathan Moas. His music combines distortion and grit with lush melodies to explore the more vulnerable and untamed aspects of dance music. At the heart of the project is a well curated modular synthesizer that is sampled and processed alongside computer-based softwares.

Rumour has it he’ll be debuting some more vocally-led bangers at the Rat… Giddy up.

  • SOURCE DECAY

Source Decay is a Gamilaroi sound artist and composer who uses electronic and field recorded audio to create ambient soundscapes punctuated by driving percussive moments.

Source has composed for dance, theatre, film, art installations and podcasts and is currently working on two experimental albums fusing different genres of music. Self described as a sound artist and composer, Source Decay creates ambient ‘found audio’ compositions using samples, electronic and field
recorded audio to create ambient soundscapes punctuated by driving percussive moments.

  • WHYPY

WAN HILL PENKETHMAN-YOUNG is the collaborative partnership between Sydney-based artists-producers-curators Alister Wan Hill & Sophie Penkethman-Young.

Following a string of critically acclaimed commissioned performances at Sydney Opera House in 2020, WHPY established a signature interdisciplinary ethos centering contemporary music experiences while drawing upon an experimental framework of digital media, live performance and theatrical installation – delivering
communally-created visions that celebrate collaborative practice.
