Under The Bar - NOLA

Interview and intro by Carolina Pasini | Photos by Harry Winnall.

Take a trip to New Orleans at Kaurna/Adelaide's treasured whiskey and craft beer haven: NOLALocated in the heart of the City of Churches, NOLA is an analog escape where every night is an invitation into the Deep South.

Here, every drink and drinker has a story to tell, from whiskys steeped in centuries of tradition and others born from a once in a lifetime barrel. Alongside a rotating selection of our mates’ craft beers, they also offer a menu punctuated by the perfect pub pairing — a schnitty and a Normie beer.

We sat down with Vasilos (aka Vas) to talk about the quirky and caring aspects of NOLA's team and his love for the ever-changing beer selection.

CP | What do you like most about working at NOLA?

VB | All of the rotating list of beers we get through.

CP | What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen or heard while working?

VB | A lovely lady leaving the bathrooms and walking down stairs commented on our 3-ply toilet paper. She said 'it means you care as much about my coochie as I do". It's the little things.

CP | What dish from NOLA would you pair a Normie with?

VB | Fried Chicken (can't go wrong with chicken and beer)

CP | Describe NOLA in three words

VB | Cozy, Delicious & Gluten

CP | What’s your favourite drinking song?

VB | Tennessee Whisky 'or' anything by Jimmy Bay
